The Waorani tribe is on the verge of losing their homes as well as way of life. The president of Ecuador is persistent in trying to remove the Waorani tribe form their homeland for oil drilling . The Waorani are under no circumstances going to give up their land, so they will fight with everything they have to remain on the land they have been living on for centuries. They are not fierce warriors nor savages, but they will defend their home land. The real question is, what measures will the tribe resort to in order to keep their sacred land?
There seems to be an intercontinental trend going on here. Just as the Native Americans of North America lost their home and traditions the Waorani are facing the same adversity. History is repeating itself under similar conditions. A group of people with different and conflicting ways come in and try to change what they have followed for centuries. The original intent of the conquistadors was to find gold on the land the natives belonged to. They didn't care how they obtained it. They would drive the natives off the land, and they would kill them in their search for gold. Not much has changed, and several factors of these disasters are very similar. Except Chevron isn't looking for gold, they are looking for oil. A minority of people equipped with only spears and blow-darts is against a majority of people who are better equipped for this particular stand-off. Allegedly Chevron is trying to clear them off their land, and if they resist, military actions are authorized. We already know who's going to win this fight, but with enough external influence can we help them keep their home?
